Nuclear energy is inherent in the basic structure of the universe. How scientists discovered this property of matter, how it came to be unlocked and used to end W.W. II, and comments on the legacy of this use are the subjects of this class. The journey of science and the journey of world political and military history converged to ensure this discovery was exploited. Hiroshima has deep implications for the nature of humanity as exposed by the hard decisions that come with both war and the peace that followed. This class is interactive – come with questions and your own perspective commentary.
